I had spent a lot of time to figure out a route that would bring me the least traffic plus the least vertical meters. I succeeded and I failed ... Then only just after a few minutes the Slope of Slopes 😰 loomed.
This hill has 🥊 beaten me ! For the first time during YesTrip I had to unload. And even that was a guess and it also was difficult since I had to keep the rearbrake full on to prevent the OnTheRoad 4.0 🖱️ from sliding down. The fronttyre had hardly any grip anyway ...
I took off the frontbags, the handlebarbag, the tentbag and my special standpole. I hoped that would help and it did a little bit. But as I had expected this caused another problem almost just as bad. It was a gravelroad and there I always experience the uneven spread of the weight on the bicycle. The frontwheel has only little load (so grip) and tends to slide away sideways which is almost impossible to prevent. Unloading made that even extra worse and I only managed some 10cms to 20cms at a time. Then I had to stop again to correct the direction. If I myself could find any grip anyway.
This 634mts strech with some 45vms 💦 costed me 1h02 to conquer !!!
But once at the real top the 📷 view was very nice.
And also closeby it was !
Today I cycled only 13.8kms with 181vms and an average of 4.2kmh. But it was enough. Point is I descended quite steep into Casariche and knew climbing out there would be a struggle.
And since I found a nice campspot I decided to call it a day. I will save 😁 the next climb for some next day to come.
This is the interactive map of today's YesTrip.
Tomorrow I will investigate Casariche.
